Rough Draft of Presentation

Digital Citizenship Outline

1. Digital Access
- This is the equal ability for people in different countries and societies to access digital technology. People in all societies should have an equal right to access technology whether they are handicapped, are old or are young, are male or female, and no matter who they are and where they come from.

2. Digital Communication
- This is basically the electronic way to exchange information. In the 19th century the electronic ways to communicate were very limited. Now in the 21st century forms of communication have expanded widely throughout the world. The expanding communication is changing everything allowing you to keep in constant communication.

3. Digital Literacy
- This is the ability to use technology for different reasons such as information, communication (E-Mail), and the effects it has on us. It can lead to major changes in society and it impacts more personal issues such as health. The goal of Digital Literacy is to teach the basic computer concepts and skills so that people can use the new technology in their everyday life.

4. Digital Security and Safety
- This issue relates to a person's well-being and safety online. Also what precautions could be taken to prevent one from any possible dangers on the internet. The internet is open to everyone, those who are friendly and innocent and others who's intentions are not as clear. Most of us today consider being safe as surrounding yourself with others, locking your doors at night, keeping treasured items in safes, however when it comes to being safe online these things are not available, and so one protects themselves by remembering to not share all their personal information such as their whereabouts and phone numbers.

5. Digital Etiquette
- Digital etiquette, or netiquette as its sometimes called, is a basic set of rules you should follow in order to make the internet better for others, and better for you. It’s just as important to treat people with courtesy and respect online as it is in real life. When you instant message, chat, or email someone over the Internet, they can’t see your face to tell if you’re teasing them or saying something in jest. How do you practice good Netiquette? It’s simple – just treat others as you want to be treated – with courtesy and respect. People know these rules but usually do not follow when using the Internet. This includes hacking others computer, downloading illegally, plagiarism and using bad language on the Internet. Not a lot of schools teach students how important it is to follow these rules that everyone knows. If all of us follow this it could make the Internet a better space to share and use.

6. Digital Rights and Responsibilities
- This is when you see something that is bad you should report it. It is to be responsible and not let things get out of hand online. There have been certain cases where bullying and fraud has gotten out of hand. This can be avoided if people know how to be responsible online.

7. Digital Commerce
- Digital Commerce is defined as the electronic selling and buying of goods however it goes further than that, nowadays technology is having a tremendous influence in our lives; currently we are having to deal with the fact that a large share of market economy is being done electronically. The Internet now gives us the opportunity to purchase a wide variety of products, as toys, clothes, cars, food, etc yet this faces a problem as illegal goods are being sold as well and this makes Digital Commerce something to think about. The access to almost any products makes us wonder about the legal and illegal acts that could be done simply by trading on the net. The point of this
explanation is to make others aware, specially young students that the electronic commerce might be dangerous thus at the same time might be useful, it is important to know how to commerce electronically correctly. The rise of the digital economy does not change the issue of right and wrong, but it does enhance the user’s access to buying and selling goods, which magnifies the issue of illegal activities.

8. Digital Law
- This is defined as the electronic responsibility for actions, deeds which is either ethical or unethical. Digital responsibility deals with the ethics of technology. Unethical use manifests itself in form of theft and/or crime. Ethical manifests itself in the form of abiding by the laws of society. It is basically about what you are and are not allowed to do while surfing and using the Internet

9. Digital Health and Wellness
- This is keeping teenagers away from danger of physical and psychological harm. Many problems can be contributed to electronic devices. Teenagers need to be aware of the risks of digital predators that they may meet online. It is crucial that teenagers are informed of the hazards of digital life and how to keep healthy and safe.
